Ohio Governor Strickland Planning to Attend Glenn Museum Foundation’s
“John and Annie Glenn: A Celebration of a Life Together” on April 17th
NEW CONCORD, OHIO –April 7,
2010– Ohio Governor Ted Strickland is planning to attend an April 17th
celebration of John and Annie Glenn and their life together, according to
officials of the John and Annie Glenn Museum Foundation. The event is scheduled
for Saturday evening, beginning at 6:30, April 17, in their hometown of New
Concord, Ohio, and limited tickets are still available.
The event, titled “John and Annie
Glenn: The Celebration of a Life Together,” is sponsored by the Glenn Museum
Foundation, the agency that operates the John and Annie Glenn Historic Site,
located in Senator Glenn’s boyhood home.
William McCoach, chairperson for
the event, explained that the event is an opportunity to meet and celebrate the
Glenns and their life together, while helping to fund the museum operations.
All proceeds will benefit the Glenn Museum Foundation’s permanent endowment.
Sponsorships begin at $1,000 and individual tickets at $250, McCoach said.
The Glenn Historic Site features
an award-winning living history tour, taking visitors back to either
Depression-era 1937 or the World War II homefront of 1944. The home also
features galleries containing special childhood treasures and memorabilia from
Senator Glenn’s military, political and space careers.

Ohio Historical Society Enters Into Agreement with John and Annie Glenn Historic Site To Manage National Road-Zane Grey Museum
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)- The Ohio Historical Society has entered into a management agreement for the National Road-Zane Grey Museum, according to William K. Laidlaw, OHS executive director and CEO.
"We are pleased the John and Annie Glenn Historic Site and Exploration Center will manage National Road-Zane Grey Museum for the Ohio Historical Society," Laidlaw said. "This arrangement with a local organization will allow the museum to continue to be open to visitors this year. The John and Annie Glenn Historic Site is looking forward to hosting another
traveling exhibit from the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. "Journey
to Tomorrow" will be at the site the week of May 18.
The exhibit is housed in a 53-foot trailer, which has been transformed into an
interactive environment, packed with hands-on activities and digital learning
stations. Eight kiosks provide a variety of NASA developed programming.
Examples include "Celebrating 100 years of Flight", "Brain Bites" that answers
common questions about air and space travel, a lunar landing simulator, glove
box activities, a planetary gravity demonstrator and a solar system scale where
students can discover how much they would weigh on each of the planets. A
moon rock will also be on display.
Area middle/junior high schools have been invited to bring students to participate in the "Journey
to Tomorrow" and also tour the Historic Site. The exhibit will also be open to
the public at no charge on Wednesday, May 20 from 5 - 7 p.m.

The John and Annie Glenn Historic Site, located in downtown New Concord,
opens for its 8th season on Wednesday, April 15 at 10:00 a.m.
The site's hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Admission is $6 for adults, $5
for senior citizens and $3 for students. Tours of the facility are available
during regular business hours, or may be arranged by calling 740-826-3305.
This season, the site's living history experience will focus on the year 1937, and
the challenging times Americans faced then. As in the past, the tours will
conducted by actors and actresses in costume who will represent people from the
period. Tours are available and appropriate for all ages.
The John and Annie Glenn Historic Site is located in the former boyhood home of New
Concord native John Glenn, who served as a United States Senator and astronaut.
A gift shop is also available.
