John and Annie Glenn Historic Site opens for fifth season on April 12 with new displays

NEW CONCORD, OHIO – APRIL 10, 2006 – The John and Annie Glenn Historic Site in downtown New Concord will open for its fifth season on Wednesday, April 12 with a variety of new exhibits to attract new and returning visitors.

New displays include a life-size figure of John Glenn, donated by the director of the Ohio Wax Museum; a complete set of Silver Anniversary Space Medals, minted by the Franklin Mint; and an American Fallout Shelter sign with an explanation of that period of the nation’s history.

Since the museum opened in 2002, it has hosted more than 19,000 visitors from 48 states and 16 foreign countries. Approximately 40 group tours have been booked for the 2006 season so far, with roughly half of those being motor coach tours.

The highlight of the museum’s tour continues to be the living history tour, during which visitors are guided through the main floor of the house by an actor in costume who represents life as it was in1944 on the home front during World War II. The tours are ideal for audiences of any age. Also available are dinner tours for groups of 20 – 30, which feature a tour of the facility and a buffet dinner catered by Classic Fare Catering.

The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission charge is $6.00 for adults, $5.00 for senior citizens and $3.00 for students. For more information or to arrange a tour, call 740-826-3305.
