Pottery Display

The Museum Foundation is very excited about the new display cases at the National Road & Zane Grey Museum. These cases will house local Muskingum County pottery lines that are not represented in the main art pottery collection. Currently, the cases feature La Pere pottery, courtesy of Alva and Marlene Richardson, two local collectors and pottery lovers who will share their story and the importance of art pottery at a dedication ceremony in June. The cases were built with a grant from the Ohio History Fund. The History Fund supports local history projects and is entirely supported by the tax check-off program on your annual state income tax returns. You may have noticed—and you’ll have another opportunity to donate to this fund next year—at the end of your tax form you were asked if you wanted to donate some or all of your tax refund to the Ohio History Fund. All of this money was then distributed to various historic sites around the state. The museum was one of only a handful of Ohio historic sites to receive the grant. We are very grateful and excited by the opportunities created by the fund. We look forward to enjoying the Richardsons’ pottery collection and many other collections in the years to come.
