Celebration

April 17, 2010: “John and Annie Glenn: A Celebration of a Life Together”

John and Annie Glenn, and their life together, were celebrated on April 17th, 2010, at a special event held on the campus of Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio.

The evening was sponsored by the Glenn Museum Foundation, which operates the John and Annie Glenn Historic Site, located in Senator Glenn’s boyhood home in downtown New Concord.

Friends, well-wishers, and dignitaries gathered to honor the Glenns and their more than 80 years of life together. Among the speakers were Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and Ohio Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher.

William McCoach, chairperson for the event, explained that the event allowed friends of the museum an opportunity to meet and celebrate the Glenns and their life together, while helping to fund the museum operations. All proceeds benefitted the Glenn Museum Foundation’s permanent endowment.

The Glenn Historic Site features an award-winning living history tour, taking visitors back to either Depression-era 1937 or the World War II homefront of 1944. The home also features galleries containing special childhood treasures and memorabilia from Senator Glenn’s military, political and space careers.
