Events – 2017

JAG (John & Annie Glenn Museum) —–

 Saturday, March 25  – 12:00 pm            Luncheon – “Remarkable Women, Past, Present & future” to feature presentations on life of a remarkable woman of the past, a local woman who has contributed to our community throughout her lifetime and a young woman with a bright and promising future. Reservations required.  

Wednesday, May 3 – 1:00 – 4:00          Opening Day – This year will be a new Living History Presentation, “1962 – The year John Glenn orbited Earth”.

Saturday, May 6 – 10:00 – 7:00            Grand Opening of the “1962” Living History Program Free walk-through tours and refreshments all day.

Tuesday, July 11              Space Camp Students (ages 8 – 12) will learn more about the historic flight of John Glenn, the first American to orbit Earth.  Click for registration

Monday, November 27 – 5:30 – 8:00      Christmas Open House –  Everyone is invited in to the Glenn home the evening of the New Concord Christmas Parade to see the beautiful tree with Lionel train as John Glenn would have enjoyed when he was growing up in the village in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Historic Site volunteers will be serving hot chocolate and cookies on the front porch.

Sunday, April 30  – 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.                  Zane Grey Dayadmission by donation which supports the educational programs of the museum Zane Grey Activities will include

  • Vintage Baseball by The “Ohio Village Muffins”
  •  ODNR’s “Passport to Fishing” Program
  •  Dutch Oven Cooking
  •  Children’s Activities
  •  Musical Entertainment

 

Wednesday, July 12 – 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.                   Pottery Lovers Open House
 Free Admission for members. Come and enjoy our fine collection of Art Pottery.

Saturday, October 7 1 – 4 p.m.      Fall Festival   

Come and enjoy a wiener roast w/hotdogs, s’mores and cider. Fall activities will include scarecrow construction, slime making and pumpkin picking.    

Sunday, December 3 – 1 – 4 p.m.              Christmas Open HouseBring the family for an afternoon of fun and enjoy the beautifully adorned trees throughout the museum which have been donated by friends of the community.  Special holiday music will be performed by JG Company and spinning demonstrations will be going on throughout the afternoon. Make and take projects will include pinecone birdfeeders, buckeye necklaces and decorating sugar cookies. Enjoy the holiday refreshments including roasted chestnuts.
