Education
Although we are a popular tourist site, we are primarily an educational facility dedicated to helping children, particularly those in Appalachia, achieve their highest potential.
We have developed programs for all age groups which mesh with Ohio educational standards. In addition to touring the Historic Site, some groups visit Harper Cabin, the S Bridge and Muskingum College while in New Concord and we also offer indoor and outdoor games like John & Annie would have played as children. Not only do students get a great history lesson here but we also have programs to inspire students in the fields of math and science.
We work closely with the National Road-Zane Grey Museum and have developed a "National Road History Days" program which includes a visit to both sites and a learning experience along the 3 mile drive between them. Students have the option of a John Glenn boyhood or astronaut lunch, prepared by Muskingum College's Classic Fare Catering.
Please contact us for more information on our educational programs.
